Montgolgram - Written conversation collection project

Study leaders: Maxime Amblard, Ellen Breitholtz, Amandine Decker

Person collecting the data : Amandine Decker

Aim of the project : The aim of this project is to collect conversations in French, English and Swedish for dialogue analysis by carrying out specific tasks. For more information, you can contact the people in charge of this study by e-mail: contact-experience-montgolgram@inria.fr.

Who can take part? Native speakers or C1-C2 level in the chosen language (French or English). An internet connection and a browser are required (a computer, tablet or smartphone can be used).

How can you take part? If you select Yes at the bottom of this page and click ‘Continue’, you will be taken to the next part of the questionnaire where you can provide us with your contact details. Once you have completed the questionnaire, you will receive an e-mail with your login details and instructions on how to carry out the experiment (it should happen during the day or in the following days as we must pair you up with another random participant). Your participation should take about 30 minutes to set up and complete the 2 simple tasks to be carried out with a partner. You will only be able to communicate via the messaging system, without knowing the identity of the person you are communicating with. As the exchanges may be asynchronous, you can divide up your participation time as you wish.
Your collaboration is invaluable to us in carrying out our research; we appreciate the time and attention you devote to participating, and we thank you sincerely.
There is no compensation for taking part in the study. We have tried to make the experiment as fun as possible, so we hope you enjoy the different stages.

What data is collected?

  • Written conversations on a specific topic;
  • Last diploma: before A-level, A-level, BA/BS, MA/MS, postgraduate or later;
  • Gender: female, male, other, prefer not to tell;
  • Age range: 18-29 / 30-44 / 45-60 / >60;
  • During the experiment, first name, last name, e-mail address.

How is the data processed? Only your age, declared gender and level of education will be kept in order to obtain a representative balance in the data collected. Your first and last names are collected for the purposes of this consent and exercising your right of withdrawal, but will not be kept beyond the collection phase, nor will they be shared. Your e-mail address is collected to enable us to send you information necessary for your participation, but will not be kept beyond the collection phase, nor will it be shared.
The conversations collected will be analysed for public interest purposes (scientific research). After a phase of anonymisation, the conversations will be made available in anonymous form to the scientific community, which will be able to use them for other scientific analyses. When using the application, please ensure that you do not share any personal information or any information that could be used to identify you directly or indirectly by cross-referencing information.
By taking part in this experiment, you consent to the messages you send on the platform being collected for linguistic and IT research purposes.
Once you have taken part in the experiment, i.e. after completing the 2 tasks, you will receive further details on how the experiment works and how the data collected will be processed.

Individual rights : The legal basis for this processing is the consent of the data subject (article 6 1.a of the General Data Protection Regulation N°2016/679).
The original data will be kept for 6 years from the end of the collection period. They will be permanently anonymised at the end of the collection period. Anonymised data will then be accessible to the scientific community over time.
The recipients of the data are the study's researchers, namely Loria's Semagram team. The researchers from the University of Gothenburg will only have access to anonymised data.
No data will be transferred outside the EU.
The university implements technical and organisational security measures to ensure the security of personal data.
Please note that you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. In the event of withdrawal from the study, we will check with you whether you agree to your data being retained for the study. If you refuse, your previously collected data will be deleted.

In accordance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation N°2016/679 (RGPD) and the French Data Protection Act N°78-17, you have the right to access, rectify, object to, delete, limit and port your data. To exercise these rights, please contact the project sponsors at contact-experience-montgolgram@inria.fr.

The Université de Lorraine has appointed a Data Protection Officer whom you can contact for any information at the following address: dpo-contact@univ-lorraine.fr. For more information on your rights and the protection of your personal data, or to make a complaint, you can consult the website of the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL) at this address: www.cnil.fr or by post at the following address: CNIL - Service des Plaintes - 3 Place de Fontenoy - TSA 80715 - 75334 PARIS CEDEX 07.
